Website redesign in Prague that keeps your rankings

We turn slow, dated websites into hand-coded static sites that score 100 on PageSpeed, with a full redirect map so the rankings you’ve earned stay yours. From CZK 20,000, live in 2–4 weeks.

When a redesign beats starting from scratch

A website that has been online for years is worth more than it looks. Google has crawled it thousands of times, other sites link to it, and some of its pages rank for searches that bring you customers today. Delete all that and launch “fresh”, and you start from zero, often behind competitors you used to outrank.

That’s why a redesign is usually the right move when the design is dated but the domain has history: rankings, backlinks, an address printed on your business cards for years. We keep the equity and replace everything around it: design, code, speed, and any copy that isn’t earning its place.

The honest exception: if your site gets almost no search traffic, or your business has changed so much that nothing on it is worth preserving, a redesign buys you little. In that case a new custom website is the cleaner path, and we’ll tell you so in the first email rather than sell you a migration you don’t need.

Rankings survive on discipline, not luck

Most relaunch horror stories have the same plot: the new site goes live, URLs change, nobody redirects the old ones, and Google quietly drops pages it can no longer find. Traffic falls 40% and everyone blames the design.

Google ranks URLs, not websites, so our redesign process treats every URL as an asset:

  • Full inventory first. We crawl your entire old site and pull every page that gets impressions or clicks from Search Console, including the forgotten ones.
  • One-to-one redirect map. Each old URL gets a permanent 301 redirect to its specific new counterpart, never a lazy blanket redirect to the homepage (which Google treats as a soft 404).
  • Keep URLs where we can. If an address already ranks, the best redirect is no redirect: we keep the URL identical whenever the new structure allows it.
  • Verify after launch. We re-crawl, watch for 404s in Search Console for the following weeks, and submit the new sitemap to both Google and Seznam.cz.

This is unglamorous work, and it’s exactly the part template agencies skip. It’s also where our SEO service and redesigns overlap: a relaunch done properly is often the biggest single SEO improvement a site can get.

Before and after: what “twice as fast” actually means

The typical site that arrives for a redesign is a WordPress theme from 2017 with a page builder on top: 4–6 MB per page, six seconds to load on mobile data, PageSpeed score somewhere between 25 and 50. Not because anyone did anything wrong; that’s simply what stacked plugins and multipurpose themes weigh.

The rebuilt site ships as hand-coded static files. Same content, same brand, a fraction of the weight: loading in under a second and scoring a genuine 100/100 on Google PageSpeed, with at least 90 guaranteed in the contract. Because Core Web Vitals feed into rankings, the speed gain compounds with the redirect work: you keep your positions and give Google a reason to improve them. The technical case is laid out in why fast sites win.

Your visitors feel it before Google does. On a phone on mobile data, six seconds is the difference between a menu that opens and a customer who gives up.

Keep what ranks, refresh what doesn’t

A redesign is the natural moment to fix the words, but a careless rewrite can undo years of ranking. So we split your content in two during the audit.

Pages that already rank keep their substance: the topics, the heading structure and the phrases people actually search for stay intact, while we tighten the writing and update anything stale: prices, team, services you no longer offer. Pages that never ranked are rewritten freely, this time around real search demand instead of guesswork.

New copy comes in up to three languages (English, Czech, German), written by us, not run through a translator. Photography, typography and colour get the same treatment: we keep what carries your brand and replace what carries the old theme.

Leaving a heavy WordPress theme behind

A large share of our redesigns are escapes: from a multipurpose theme, a page builder, and thirty plugins that each demand updates and each add weight. The site works, but everyone is a little afraid to touch it.

The migration is straightforward on your side. We export the content, rebuild everything as static code, and retire the old stack completely: nothing left to patch, nothing left to hack, no admin login to protect. Your blog survives as a statically generated blog; your contact forms, maps and WhatsApp links are rebuilt without a plugin in sight.

Afterwards, updates work differently: instead of you wrestling a CMS twice a year, changes go through our care plan from CZK 2,500/month or small fixed blocks; hosting runs from CZK 150/month, with the first year included.

Timeline, price, and what happens first

A typical redesign runs 2–4 weeks: week one for the audit, URL inventory and new design; weeks two and three for the build and content; the final days for the redirect map, testing and the switch (done in an afternoon), with your old site live until the moment the new one takes over.

Redesigns start at CZK 20,000 where the page count is modest and the structure carries over; migrations off complex setups or multilingual rebuilds land higher. Every price is fixed before we start. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

The first step costs nothing: send us your web address through the contact page. Within 24 hours you’ll get a short, concrete assessment of what’s slowing the site down, which pages are worth preserving, and a fixed price for the rebuild.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my Google rankings after the redesign?

Not if the relaunch is done with discipline, and that discipline is the core of our redesign service. Before anything goes live we inventory every URL on your old site, map each one to its new home and set permanent 301 redirects, so the authority your pages have earned transfers instead of evaporating. Pages that already rank keep their substance and heading structure. A brief fluctuation in the first weeks is normal; losing positions permanently is not.

Do I need a redesign or a completely new website?

If your domain has history (pages that rank, backlinks, customers who know the address), a redesign protects that value while fixing design and speed. If the site has almost no traffic, or your business has changed so much that nothing on it is worth keeping, an honest quote for a new build is often simpler and no more expensive. Send us your address and we’ll tell you plainly which one you need.

Can you move my site away from WordPress?

Yes, and it’s one of the most common redesigns we do. We export your content, rebuild the site as clean static code and redirect every old URL. You lose the plugin updates, the security patches and the four-second load times; you keep your content, your rankings and your blog, which we generate statically. If your workflow genuinely needs a CMS (daily publishing, many editors), we’ll say so before we start.

How long does a website redesign take?

Typically 2–4 weeks. Your current site stays online the entire time: we build and test the new one in parallel, prepare the redirect map, and switch traffic over in a single afternoon once you’ve approved everything. There is no downtime and no half-finished site visible to customers at any point.

What does a redesign cost?

Redesigns start at CZK 20,000 for a site of around five pages where the structure stays similar. Larger sites, extra languages or a migration off a complex WordPress setup move the price up. Most projects land between CZK 25,000 and CZK 55,000. The price is fixed and written down before we start, and it includes the redirect map and post-launch checks, not just the visible design.
