Gemini 4 Argon: introductory API price ends 30 November and doubles from December
Google has offered Gemini 4 Argon since 13 October 2026 at an introductory USD 2 per million input tokens and USD 10 per million output tokens. After 30 November the price rises to USD 4 and USD 20, so companies should recalculate their costs now.
On 13 October 2026 Google made Gemini 4 Argon available through paid channels: in Gemini for business on web, desktop and mobile, through the API on the Gemini platform, in Google AI Studio and in Antigravity. According to available sources the model is not part of the free API tier. It has a context window of one million tokens.
The price is the important part. Until 30 November 2026 an introductory rate applies: USD 2 per million input tokens and USD 10 per million output tokens. From 1 December, according to Google, the standard rate of USD 4 and USD 20 applies, which is double. A team that built its project budget on the introductory price will see twice the cost for the same workload on the December invoice.
AI agents feel this more than plain chat. An agent calls the model many times for a single task, reads long documents and resends context, so token usage grows fast. A mid-sized company that sorts thousands of emails and invoices a month can pay double for the model at the same volume without changing anything in the application itself.
Sources describe the exact switch slightly differently (introductory price ending 30 November, new rate from 1 December), so check the current price list directly with Google. We leave out benchmark results because they come mostly from the vendor.
What it means for companies
Before you switch Gemini 4 Argon on in production, calculate monthly cost at the December rate, not the introductory one. A well built agent keeps the model behind its own layer, so it can be swapped or made cheaper with shorter context and caching. That is what we do in AI consulting and audit, comparing models on price and quality using your own data. We then build the process as a custom AI agent with human approval for steps that have consequences, from EUR 5,000 and with a free prototype within 3 working days. See also our pricing.
