Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash: Google video at $0.07 per second, clips up to 15 s

Google launched Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, a model for generating and editing video. Clips run up to 15 seconds, a 720p draft costs $0.07 per second, and it is available through the Gemini API, Google Cloud, Flow, Vids and Google Ads.

Google this week introduced Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, an updated Google DeepMind model for generating and editing video. According to media reports and Google's own posts, the longest single clip grew from 10 to 15 seconds. The model keeps characters, objects and scenes more consistent and allows multi-turn conversational edits, so you do not have to regenerate a whole clip.

Price drew the most attention. Google says a quick draft at 360p or 720p costs $0.07 per second, and the finished clip can then be upscaled to 1080p or 4K. It describes the price as 30% lower than before. A 15-second 720p draft therefore comes to about $1.05. Check the 1080p and 4K rates in Google's price list.

The model is rolling out through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, in Google Cloud, in Flow and Google Vids, and in Google Ads. In the Gemini app it goes to Google AI subscribers, with 15-second clips reserved for the Ultra plan according to Google. Android Authority adds that free users can try some of the new features in Flow and Vids.
